After I posted my last post, I sang a jingle in my head from one of the various that I have saved and it hit me! I’ve been meaning to post these for quite a bit! To start with a bit of context; I LOVEEEE old commercial jingles. One of my favorite things to have on in the background is compilations of old 70s, 80s and 90s commercials. I even watch them when I get high and it’s absolutely wonderful. Just a soothing, comforting nostalgia.
Sometimes I hear a jingle in the commercials that really wow me and I usually clip em and save them! I will use this post as a pseudo repository for them!
This one was for a company called “Prestige Home Centers”. I believe it was in Florida? I can’t remember exactly, doesn’t matter. The ending of their commercial is absolutely fantastic:
I listen to WIP a LOT. Especially when the Phillies are into something good. On my last overnight rotation, I waited allll night for this to hit:
K-Mart from the 70s. It also has one of the greatest radio voices of all time doing the promo. Paul Stagg from Minnesota’s WCCO-AM.
Speaking of WCCO, they had this FANTASTIC theme song!
Len the Plumber! Personally, I think this jingle stinks and just doesn’t feel right. It’s humorous though!
Sleepy’s! Nothing special, just a wonderful resolving melody that is soooothing:
This is an old WIP Bumper Jingle from 1922 when they played music!
98.1 WOGL-FM is a station that used to play Oldies but has since turned to 80s, yick! However, they used to play this WONDERFUL bumper:
UPDATE 1:
Pizza 73! This is a Canadian exclusive pizza brand which has been around since 1985. The restaurant’s name originates from its original phone number: 473–7373. Before AREA Codes! I found this jingle by browsing their website using the wayback machine! Can’t believe the file was still there! The bass line RIPS in this. Try focusing on it. Dude gave it his all for an 8 second ditty.
This next one isn’t a Jingle, but it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s the short close from NBC’s Nightly News program. It was composed by John Williams! My favorite part of the song is the last few seconds. When the final motif hits, there is a low end bass tone that holds and it just MOVEs me.
